Our History

Individuals struggling with substance use disorders frequently have a history of underlying and/or untreated mental health disorders. The Haven’s goal is to address problems related to substance use and mental health disorders at the same time. In most cases, these untreated, underlying mental health disorders contribute to the worsening symptoms of drug addiction, creating a downward spiral of substance use and poor mental health. From a dual-diagnosis perspective, The Haven’s clinical staff is highly trained in both substance-related and mental health disorders and provide evidence-based approaches to treat clinical depression, anxiety, mood disorders, antisocial personality disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related disorders.

The Haven’s advanced nurse practitioner provides medical services to individuals on a weekly basis. Upon admission into treatment, a medical history and physical exam will be completed, as well an evaluation and approval of all medications, and then providing follow-up appointments, referrals to outside providers, and medication management throughout the course of an individuals treatment.
