Success Stories
Dear Haven Staff,
I thank God every day of my new life that he led my path through the Haven. I don’t even know how to express to you what the experience and all that I learned there has done for me. I just want you to know that the work you do CHANGES LIVES and that is an understatement! I look at everything with new eyes.
I’m the freeest I’ve been in 32 years. I finally have peace. Every single day that I live my life with some kind of integrity and purpose, my heart gets a little lighter.
Thank you for everything…especially my life!

Dear Haven,
There is no way that I can ever repay the Haven for what it has done for me. I was a broken soul when I walked through the back door in June of 2007. I’ve now been clean and sober for almost 2 1/2 years. When I was drinking and abusing drugs, I never believed that it was possible for me to have the kind of life I have today. I am a responsible member of society.
A believe wholeheartedly that my Higher Power directed me to the Haven. I love who I am today, I have my life back, and I can thank the Haven for this.

Dear Haven Staff,
Words cannot express how I feel when we picked up Cory for the weekend. I was amazed at the man who rode home with us. What a difference 60 days has made. Thank you for all the help you all have given Cory. What a change we all saw in him. I was so excited I couldn’t sleep the whole weekend. My mind kept going thru all the positive things he said and did. Thank you, thank you for the change your program has made in Cory.

Dear Haven,
You gave Brigham a chance to live a useful, happy, and sober life. We prayed that Brigham could be there each day. We prayed for all those in the community, the counselors, teachers, the staff, the alumni, and all who met in and visited your rooms. Within your walls there is a good spirit. There is a light that is reflected in the eyes of those who learn to work the principles you teach.
Our family is grateful for all you did for Brigham. We are grateful for what you have taught us. We are grateful that you are part of the Twelve Step Recovery Community. Hooray for you, Haven. “Keep comin’ back” and do what you do. Do it every day. Day in and day out. Never take a break. Addiction takes no time off. It’s 24/7 for you, God willing.

To Whom it May Concern:
The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Clinic at the University of Utah School of Medicine has had a close association with the Haven for over three decades. Psychologists from our clinic facilitate therapy groups at the Haven twice per week. We continue working with Haven clients for long-term aftercare once they leave the program. Our involvement with the Haven has allowed us the privilege of seeing the wonderful work they do and the lives that they touch on a regular basis.
Substance abuse is one of the greatest public health problems our country faces. I can honestly say that the staff of the Haven serve their clients with a rare, heartfelt dedication that comes from a sincere desire to help people change their lives for the better. They don not simply “go through the motions”, but do their best to regard their clients as valuable lovable people who need help. In many cases their work is frustrating and tiring, but the staff at the Haven remain diligent. I know their loving, sometimes tough, concern has changed many lives for the better. They have helped many people grow to become self-sufficient, productive individuals who give back to their community.
I would also like to make note of the role of the Haven within the community. The haven enjoys a hard-earned reputation as being one of the best residential programs in the state. Their reputation draws potential clients from all over the state and, in some cases from all over the country. They are a pivotal part of the substance abuse treatment network in this region.
Sincerely,
Steven R. Sheppard Ph.D.
