Philosophy
Alcoholism and drug dependence is a three-fold illness (physical, mental, and spiritual). To be successful, we feel that our program must address all of these aspects. At The Haven we provide clinical supervision, emotional and mental support, as well as spiritual insight and motivation. The constant contact and sharing with fellow patients cannot be over emphasized in its effectiveness.
The Treatment model is that of a therapeutic community with a level of intensity, which qualifies it as an III.5 level of care according to American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria. More easily stated, we are one step below being a full intensive inpatient care that also provides medical intervention. Our treatment is 12 Step oriented with a focus on clients assuming responsibility for their own recovery. We provide substance abuse treatment for adult men and women who are in need of long term care in a supportive structured environment.
The Haven provides food, shelter, training, referral and support services for vocational / educational rehabilitation, physical and psychological evaluation, and recreational therapy. Potential residents must complete detoxification prior to interviewing for entry. Our program is designed to provide services to those that could benefit from more intensive or longer-term therapy than is offered through traditional inpatient settings, but do not require hospitalization or intensive medical attention. We often act as a strong bridge between hospitalization and full reintegration into the daily routine of family and work for those who require further therapeutic interventions after hospitalization. However, a great deal of our admissions are direct.
We treat our residents with the utmost care and compassion and provide a firm organization to aid our clients in rebuilding self-discipline and self-image. We have very high, but realistic, expectations of the residents which, when met, provide a strong foundation for re-entry into society.
